Quatrième bannière de la collection Dürer’s Legacy, - Der Edelknecht - poursuit l’ascension initiée par Der Knappe, Der Landsknecht puis Der Reiter. Inspirée de la gravure Ritter, Tod und Teufel d’Albert Dürer, cette pièce marque une nouvelle étape dans le développement de la collection.

Entièrement réalisée à la main dans mon atelier, - Der Edelknecht - associe la célèbre gravure à un velours d’ameublement noir soigneusement sélectionné. L’œuvre, imprimée elle-même sur du velours de haute qualité, s’inscrit ici dans une construction plus élaborée, structurée par un important travail de passementerie ancienne française qui encadre, divise et met en scène l’image. Les galons utilisés proviennent de stocks anciens d’une manufacture Lyonnaise aujourd’hui fermée et ne seront jamais reproduits.

Au bas de la bannière figure le célèbre monogramme d’Albrecht Dürer. Reproduit à partir de la signature originale du maître, il a été sculpté puis fondu par mes soins dans mon atelier. Réalisé en étain, cet élément constitue une création artisanale exclusive et confère à chaque bannière une présence singulière.

Comme son nom l’indique - Der Edelknecht ~ L’Écuyer Noble - cette bannière évoque celui qui se prépare à recevoir les honneurs de la chevalerie. Héritier du serviteur, du mercenaire et du cavalier, il se tient désormais au seuil d’un idéal supérieur. Elle poursuit l’exploration du thème fondateur de la collection : Qu’importe !

Confectionnée entièrement à la main, - Der Edelknecht - est une pièce de collection destinée aux amateurs de l’œuvre de Dürer, d’art textile et d’artisanat d’art.

Chaque pièce est doublée de coton noir, sur lequel est apposée une étiquette mentionnant le nom du sujet, le lieu ainsi que l’année de création.

Édition limitée à 4 exemplaires.

The fourth banner in the Dürer’s Legacy Collection, - Der Edelknecht - continues the ascent begun with Der Knecht, Der Landsknecht and Der Reiter. Inspired by Albrecht Dürer’s renowned engraving Ritter, Tod und Teufel, this piece represents a new stage in the development of the collection, both in its composition and in the richness of its materials.

Entirely handcrafted in my workshop, - Der Edelknecht - combines the celebrated engraving with carefully selected black upholstery velvet. Here, the artwork (printed on high-quality velvet) is integrated into a more elaborate composition, structured by an extensive use of antique French passementerie that frames, divides and stages the image. The golden trimmings used for this piece originate from old stocks that have since been exhausted and will never be reproduced.

Positioned beneath the image is Albrecht Dürer’s famous monogram. Reproduced from the artist’s original signature, it has been sculpted and cast by my own hand in my workshop. Made in tin, this element is an exclusive handcrafted creation that gives each banner a distinctive presence.

As its name suggests - Der Edelknecht ~ The Noble Squire - this banner evokes the man preparing to receive the honours of knighthood. Heir to the servant, the mercenary and the rider, he now stands at the threshold of a higher ideal. It continues the exploration of the collection’s founding theme: No matter what.

Handcrafted and produced in a highly limited edition, - Der Edelknecht - is a collector’s piece intended for admirers of Dürer’s work, textile art and fine craftsmanship.

Each piece is lined with black cotton, to which a label has been affixed indicating the subject’s name, the place of creation, and the year of creation.
